Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands on experience in area of supervision.
• Minimum of five (5) years of safety related experience.
• Knowledge of legislative regulations, policies and codes as they apply to the mining industry.
• Ability to write and administer safety policies as required.
• Self directed with solid organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
• Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety strategies and internal policy.
• Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
• Outline safe operating procedures identifying hazards.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure policies are implemented.
• Plan practical methods of promoting health and safety and safe working practices.
• Lead in-house training efforts.
• Maintain records of inspections and generate improvement reports.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Carry out accident investigations and report recommendations.
• Monitor and update safety management plans across sites.
