Job summary

Stantec’s Mining, Minerals and Metals Practice is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Canadian team. You’ll lead engineering studies, detailed design and construction support for mining projects, coordinating with execution teams and clients to ensure safe, cost-effective outcomes.

You’ll manage budgets, schedules, and technical interfaces while promoting safety and quality. The role offers opportunities for development in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in a mining related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering, design and construction experience in heavy industry.
• Willingness to travel (~10% travel) and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety codes, regulations and guidelines are met by design and use of technology.
• Review drawings for safety and constructability concerns prior to client issues.
• Provide engineering support to meet client needs and incorporate client suggestions for future requirements.
• Act as the key link between technical execution and project management teams.
• Manage and direct a team of engineers and designers through project scoping, feasibility studies, detailed engineering and construction support.
• Interface with the Client on project technical issues and identify value opportunities, risks and mitigations.
• Implement and maintain engineering processes, including risk reviews and quality control steps.
• Own and monitor engineering budget and schedules, driving change management in engineering and design.
• Deliver engineering deliverables on schedule with multi-disciplinary interfaces.
