Job summary

Motion Industries in Canada seeks an expert to design heavy-duty hydraulic systems for mining equipment such as drills and excavators. You will produce schematics, 2D layouts, and 3D CAD models of machine components, supporting the full engineering cycle from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities include calculating high-pressure parameters, selecting rugged components, integrating electro-hydraulic controls, and collaborating with maintenance teams to prototype, install, calibrate, and test

Responsibilities

• Design heavy-duty hydraulic systems for mining equipment including drills, excavators and conveyor drives
• Create 2D layouts and 3D CAD models of machinery components using specialized software
• Calculate high-pressure parameters, flow rates, operating pressures and heat dissipation for deep-mine environments
• Select seals, hoses, valves capable of resisting abrasive mining dust and extreme temperatures
• Integrate electro-hydraulic controls and collaborate with automation teams to develop remote-control or autonomous mining systems
• Build and commission prototypes; assemble, install and calibrate fluid power assemblies
• Perform diagnostic testing, cycle-time analysis and oil analysis to monitor system health
• Troubleshoot hydraulic failures to minimize mine downtime
• Ensure designs comply with Canadian mining regulations and safety acts
• Document engineering packages and generate Bills of Materials and maintenance schedules
• Provide technical guidance to millwrights and heavy equipment mechanics during overhauls
