Job summary

Mosaic is seeking a Mining Engineer or Geoscience Co-Op/Intern for Summer 2027 at Esterhazy, SK. You will assist with project design, execution and management to improve facility efficiency and product quality, learning from a global leader in mining.

The program offers competitive pay, in-person work, and housing/relocation support for qualified candidates. May start 2027 for up to 16 months, 36–40 hours per week on a 9/80 schedule if applicable.

Qualifications

  • Third year or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor’s in Mining/Geological Engineering or Geoscience is preferred.
  • Relevant Civil or Mechanical Engineering programs also considered.
  • 72% or higher GPA.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow experienced professionals to develop job knowledge and provide input on current practices.
  • Travel Underground to perform inspections and collect data.
  • Assist in Mine Ventilation or Mine Planning duties as required.
  • Assist in evaluating and formulating solutions for projects aimed at improving mining processes.
  • Support geophysical surveys by preparing equipment, collecting data, and learning techniques.
  • Participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives, adhering to safety protocols.

Where will you work: Mosaic Potash Esterhazy K3 is an underground potash mine located 90 kilometers south of Yorkton and one of the world’s most competitive underground potash mines in the world. Located at Highway 22. Esterhazy, SK S0A 0X0. Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.

A Mining Engineer or Geoscience Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned to assist with special project design, execution, and management. Projects will focus on improving facility efficiency and final product quality. Full time Co-Op/Internship. Typically, 36-40 hoursa week.

What you’ll do:
  • Day to day duties will include:
  • Shadow experienced professionals to develop job knowledge and provide input on current practices.
  • Travel Underground to perform inspections and collect data.
  • Assist the department with Mine Ventilation or Mine Planning duties as required.
  • Assist in evaluating and formulating solutions for projects aimed at improving mining processes under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support geophysical surveys by preparing equipment, collecting data, and learning traditional and innovative techniques.
  • Participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Help collect, organize, and interpret geological and operational data, contributing to the exchange of ideas and recommendations across departments.
  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), tradespersons, and contractors.
  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment.
  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies.
What you’ll need:
  • Third year or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor’s in Mining/Geological Engineering or Geoscience is preferred. Relevant Civil or Mechanical Engineering programs also considered.
  • 72% or higher
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or workis preferred.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
  • Ability to work full timeand be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
  • Selected candidates willbe requiredto successfully completepost-offer/pre-placementdrug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams), are required.
  • Experience working in a team environment is a must
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable
  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
  • Physical work environments may include both outdoor and underground settings, with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold temperatures and weather conditions.
