Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited seeks an Engineer to join the Albian Mine Tailings team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You will lead tailings project execution, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure safe, cost-effective operation of a world-class facility.

The role requires a Mining Engineering degree, a P.Eng designation, strong project-management skills, and proficiency with AutoCAD or Maptek Vulcan.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• P.Eng designation with APEGA, or eligibility to register
• Experience in Mine Tailings preferred
• Experience in a direct supervision role preferred
• Strong project management skills, including costing, scheduling, organization, planning, and reporting
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with AutoCAD, Maptek Vulcan or other design software
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) without restrictions

Responsibilities

• Supervise the execution of mine tailings projects that support operations at the Muskeg River and Jackpine Mines, delivering results on time and on budget
• Collaborate with Tailings Operations General Forman, Tailings Project Execution Lead, and subordinates to prioritize and co‑ordinate daily activities to meet production targets and execute project priorities
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment through practice of the Alberta OH&S code and application of company HS&E policies and standards by holding employees accountable to these standards and regulations
• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
• Provide feedback to technical designs to support short‑and long‑term project objectives, following Canadian Natural practices and driving innovative solutions
• Develop project execution schedules, identifying resource requirements and constraints
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, operations, environment and regulatory teams to support efficient and effective execution of Mine Tailings Projects
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules to deliver functional, cost-effective solutions
