Job summary

St Barbara Limited is seeking 2 Mine Support Operators to support our Atlantic Operations at the Touquoy mine site, located approximately 1 hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The position is full-time and requires a Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and an unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.

The successful candidates will perform various operational checks, assist the maintenance team, and provide mentorship to trainees, all while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards. Competitive compensation and health benefits are offered.

Job description

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.

We are currently seeking 2 Mine Support Operators to support our Atlantic Operations. These roles are full time, max-term positions, reporting to the Site Supervisor and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

Opportunity

• Perform required checks and record detailed operating information and notes in log sheets.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.
• Be able to conduct training and provide mentorship to trainees.
• Work with and assist the maintenance team as required to ensure equipment is in optimal operating condition to avoid unnecessary downtime or delays.
• Prepare working area, adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work and keeping the work area safe and free of hazards.
• Site clean-up, housekeeping, and/or ground work
• Equipment clean-up, grading of roads, plowing of snow, use of the water truck on dusty days
• Pump monitoring
• Small, medium, and large equipment operation
• Practice good housekeeping, clean cab, windows, mirrors regularly with special focus on shift changes.

Our Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate The Following

• Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license
• Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent
• Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting
• Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources
• Experience operating heavy equipment in a Mine setting
