Job summary

St Barbara Limited is seeking 16 Mill Operators for its Touquoy mine site near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. Roles are full-time, max-term positions reporting to the Site Supervisor, based about 1 hour northeast of Halifax.

Responsibilities include operating mill circuits, recording logs, and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards. Qualified candidates will hold a Nova Scotia high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and demonstrate problem solving, teamwork

Qualifications

• Address complex problems and solutions within a team setting.
• Proficient with computers and office applications.
• Able to troubleshoot mill shutdowns and use available resources.

Job description

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia. We are currently seeking 16 Mill Operators to support our Atlantic Operations. These roles are full time, max-term positions, reporting to the Site Supervisor and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity

• Effectively operate any given mill process circuit to achieve defined operating parameters.
• Perform required checks and record detailed operating information and notes in log sheets.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.
• Be able to conduct training and provide mentorship to trainees.
• Work with and assist the maintenance team as required to ensure equipment is in optimal operating condition to avoid unnecessary downtime or delays.
• Prepare working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work and keeping the work area safe and free of hazards.
• Site clean-up, housekeeping and/or ground work
• Equipment clean-up
• Pump monitoring
• Small and medium equipment operation

Our Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate The Following

• Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.
• Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
• Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting.
• Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen mill shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues within a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
• Previous experience in gold processing and/or an industrial environment is desired.
