Job summary

CGC Inc. is seeking a Mine Maintenance Mechanic for our gypsum plant in Hagersville, Ontario. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor and focuses on servicing the Mine department's daily operations in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting with precision tools, disassembly and welding, reading blueprints, and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards. Competitive hourly wage and comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Prior training as an industrial mechanic, automotive service technician, or truck and transport mechanic.
• Capable of working safely in a mine setting and following safety rules.
• Technical skills to work as a maintenance mechanic or electrician.
• Follow printed work instructions to complete tasks.
• Basic computer skills for safety training and emails.
• Learn to operate required equipment, including mobile equipment.
• Familiarity with common hand tools and proper use.
• Good communication with coworkers and customers.
• Cooperate with safety, quality, and task requirements; recognize hazards.
• Able to work 10 or 12 hour rotating shifts (Mon-Fri 10-hr; 12-hr includes weekends).

Responsibilities

• Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring tools.
• Removing defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and tools.
• Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments with hand tools and levels.
• Welding using Tig, Mig and/or Stick methods.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Working from blueprints and schematics and performing basic shop math.
• Maintaining a safe and clean environment by following procedures and rules.
