Job summary

Equinox Gold Corp. is seeking a Mine Geologist – RC Drilling to join our Geraldton team in Ontario. You will lead RC grade control drilling, oversee sites and contractors, and ensure QA/QC compliance while mentoring Geological Technicians.

The role reports to Geology leadership and supports production targets in a 14-on/14-off rotation. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in open pit production geology, registration eligibility in Ontario, and strong skills with major geology software tools.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to register as Geologist-in-Training or Professional Geoscientist in Ontario.
• 1–2 years of open pit production geology experience, preferably RC grade control.
• Experience with Archean orogenic gold deposits.
• Strong knowledge of open pit mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage all RC grade control drilling operations including sampling and logging.
• Oversee drill sites, campaigns, and contractor performance for safe operations.
• Ensure QA/QC, proper sampling, blanks and standards adherence.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Geological Technicians.
• Coordinate planning with Mine Operations and Engineering to optimize RC drilling.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and SOPs; align with regulatory requirements.
• Support data quality improvements and cross-functional projects.
• Provide technical support during staff shortages as directed.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mine Geologist – RC Drilling to join our team. Reporting to the Geology Superintendents, the Mine Geologist – RC Drilling will ensure company goals and objectives are met while promoting and respecting Equinox Gold’s values, Health and Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario, with a rotation schedule of 14 days on / 14 days off.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all Reverse Circulation (RC) Grade Control (GC) drilling operations, including sampling, chip logging, and monitoring drilling progress.
• Oversee drill sites, drilling campaigns, and contractor performance to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety,Environmental, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, including adherence to proper sampling procedures and insertion of blanks and standards.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to Geological Technicians to support departmental objectives and maintain high performance standards.
• Coordinate and participate in planning activities while collaborating with Mine Operations and Engineering to optimize RC drilling and grade control processes.
• Prepare and maintain accurate operational records, including reports, databases, downhole survey data, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring alignment with company and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing RC GC drilling efficiency, data quality, and safety performance.
• Provide technical and operational support during staff shortages or as directed by the Superintendent or Senior Mine Geologist.
• Perform in-pit geological mapping and data analysis for grade control and geotechnical evaluation.
• Compile and interpret geological and assay data to define ore-waste boundaries.
• Update grade control database and design production ore blocks.
• Participate in end-of-period grade and tonnage reconciliation.

Required Experience and Skill Set

• Eligibility to register as a Geologist-in-Training or Professional Geoscientist in Ontario.
• Experience with Archean orogenic lode gold deposits and their controls.
• Good knowledge and understanding of open pit mining operations.
• 1-2 years of experience in open pit production geology, preferably managing RC grade control drill programs.
• Excellent working knowledge of Seequent Leapfrog Geo, Seequent MX Deposit, QGIS, Deswik, Datamine (Ore Controller and Studio RM), and Orica OREPro 3D.

The salary range for this position is from$100,966.00 to $123,403.10.
