Job summary

Equinox Gold Corp. is seeking a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and provide engineering support for water management infrastructure, mine infrastructure and waste dumps at our Geraldton site.

You will oversee RFPs and coordinate with external consultants and the project execution team. The role requires practical civil/mining project experience, strong design coordination, consultant management, and effective communication with the project team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mining or water management project experience.
  • Experience coordinating consultants and design deliverables.
  • Experience preparing scopes of work and tender documentation.
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical assignments concurrently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of CAD software usage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare scopes of work for engineering studies, consulting assignments, and construction packages related to water management and mine infrastructure.
  • Support the preparation, issuance, and administration of RFPs and tender packages.
  • Respond to technical questions from contractors during tendering and construction phases.
  • Coordinate and manage engineering consultants, review design deliverables and technical reports.
  • Act as the technical liaison between consultants and the project execution team.
  • Provide in-house engineering and design support where appropriate.
  • Review technical documentation for compliance with project requirements and site standards.
  • Support procurement activities with technical input and evaluations.
  • Coordinate with operations, environmental, and geotechnical teams to align designs with requirements.
  • Assist with project planning, risk identification, and technical decision-making.
  • Prepare technical summaries and project updates for management.
  • Assist in selecting and managing consultants and contractors.
  • Conduct field inspections with the project team.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing engineering support for construction projects related to water management infrastructure, shear key construction for waste dumps, and various ad hoc infrastructure projects at the mine site. This role acts as a package manager for assigned Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

The role works closely with external consultants, contractors, and the project execution team in the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of projects.

Acting primarily in a technical capacity, the Project Engineer develops scopes of work, supports Requests for Proposals (RFPs), responds to technical inquiries from contractors, and coordinates engineering deliverables. The role also contributes to select in-house design activities and ensures technical information is effectively communicated between consultants and the project execution team.

The successful candidate has practical experience in civil, mining, water management, or tailings-related projects and a strong understanding of engineering design coordination, consultant management, and project development within an operating mine environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare scopes of work for engineering studies, consulting assignments, and construction packages related to water management, mine infrastructure projects, and waste dumps.
  • Support the preparation, issuance, and administration of Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Respond to technical questions from contractors during tendering and construction phases.
  • Coordinate and manage engineering consultants, including review of design deliverables, drawings, specifications, as-builts, and technical reports.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between consultants and the project execution team.
  • Provide in-house engineering and design support where appropriate.
  • Review technical documentation to confirm compliance with project requirements, site standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Support procurement and contract activities by providing technical input and evaluations.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, environmental, and geotechnical teams to confirm designs align with operational requirements.
  • Assist with project planning, risk identification and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare technical summaries and project updates for management review.
  • Support ad hoc mine infrastructure construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Assist in the selection and management of consultants and contractors.
  • Conduct field inspections in conjunction with the project execution team.
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mining, water management systems, earthworks, or mine infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with engineering consultants and coordinating technical design deliverables.
  • Experience preparing scopes of work, tender packages, or RFP documentation.
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical assignments and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 productivity suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
Job Conditions

  • Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rotational work schedule.
  • This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.
Certifications
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent).
  • Valid driver's license.

The salary range for this position is from$100,966.00to$123,403.00.
