Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in Saskatoon is hiring a Millwright to maintain and service production equipment for daily operations in a unionized setting. Applicants should hold a valid Industrial Mechanic Journeyperson Certificate and have 1–3 years of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyperson Certificate.
• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Extensive mechanical knowledge including power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Knowledge of conveyors, engines, pumps, grinders, welding equipment, controls, lathes and power tools.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings/schematics.
• Highly motivated with ability to work in a team or alone with minimal supervision.
• Sense of urgency and attention to detail, with ability to perform some heavy lifting.
• Basic computer ability and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimal supervision.
• Operate production equipment and monitor performance as required.
• Adhere to preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics to perform repairs.
• Machining and fabricating for equipment repairs or upgrades.
• Adopt GMP, HACCP, WHMIS and health & safety requirements in all tasks.
• Carry out work orders and manage inventory and labor on a computerized system.
