Job summary

IPEX in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Licensed Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) to install, maintain and repair industrial machinery at our manufacturing facility. The role focuses on reliability of plant operations and safe, efficient equipment performance.

Qualifications

  • Current Ontario certification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
  • Completion of an Ontario or Interprovincial Apprenticeship (Trades Qualification) Program.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Comfortable working at heights.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery.
  • Plan work from blueprints and drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Operate material handling equipment during installation and repairs.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair plant equipment, machinery, systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Utilize lathes, grinders, and other machine tools to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Support plant shutdowns, emergency repairs, and equipment recovery efforts to minimize downtime.
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and training to apprentices and helpers when required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable national, provincial, and local codes and standards.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and follow all company safety procedures.

We are currently seeking a Licensed Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Mississauga, Ontario.

Location: Mississauga, ON

Pay: $48.78 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time | Continental Day Shift

What You'll Do

As a Millwright, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Plan and complete work assignments from blueprints, sketches, technical drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Operate material handling equipment to position machinery and components during installation, setup, and repairs.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair plant equipment, machinery, systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Utilize lathes, grinders, and other machine tools to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Support plant shutdowns, emergency repairs, and equipment recovery efforts to minimize downtime.

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Ontario Provincial or Interprovincial Trade Certification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
  • Completion of an Ontario or Interprovincial Apprenticeship (Trades Qualification) Program.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding skills.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dual-ticketed Millwright/Electrician.
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.

  • Wear and promote the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training, workplace inspections, and incident investigations.

Working Environment

This position is based primarily in a manufacturing plant environment and requires: Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Handling materials and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and industrial machinery. Working around equipment such as blades, conveyors, presses, and other production machinery. Managing changing priorities and responding to unexpected equipment issues.
