Job summary

Paradigm Electronics Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic Millwright for our Mississauga, ON facility.

The role covers installation, alignment, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of stationary machinery, conveyors, pumps and plant systems including hydraulic and PLC controls. The successful candidate will have a Maintenance Technician diploma or equivalent, 5+ years of building and machine maintenance, and strong cross-trade knowledge.

Qualifications

• Maintenance Technician diploma or equivalent; Millwright and Electrician licences are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery during installation, setup and repair.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install and troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as PLC controls.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance on machinery and plant systems.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools.
• Repair and overhaul mechanical systems and align moving parts as required.
• Set up and adjust complex machinery.
• Analyze information to perform maintenance and troubleshoot.

Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic Millwright to join our team in Mississauga. This skilled role is responsible for the installation, alignment, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of all stationary industrial machinery, equipment (including conveyors, pumps, and generators), and plant systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC controls). This role also requires a strong foundation in general facility maintenance (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and jacks to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install and troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as programmable logic controllers (PLCs
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery and plant systems.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools.
• Assemble and install equipment such as drive motors, gearboxes, belts, gravity conveyors, platforms, and other types of industrial equipment.
• Repair and overhaul mechanical systems and replace and align moving parts as required.
• Set up and adjust complex machinery.
• Analyze information to perform maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication of machinery, troubleshooting, test running and proper operation of machines.
• Confer with management to recommend equipment changes and modifications and evaluate new equipment.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Maintenance Technician diploma or equivalent; Millwright and Electrician licences are highly desired.
• 5+ years of experience in general building maintenance and machine repairs.
• A strong understanding of trades (HVAC, painting, carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing) is required, along with knowledge of preventive and demand maintenance.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience with CNC, Plastic Injection, PCB component sequencers are highly desired.
• Physical ability to repeatedly lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, as well as stand, bend, kneel, climb, and stretch for long periods of time.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, work proactively, and demonstrate reliability and strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and decision-making abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
