As a Mechanical Technician (Red Seal Millwright) working in the Equipment Repair Services team, you will be responsible for the safe, quality, and timely repair of various mechanical assets associated with pipeline operation. Examples include (but are not limited to):
- Centrifugal compressors
- Gearboxes
- Pumps (Pneumatic/Hydraulic)
- Dry Gas Seals
- Industrial Engines (CAT, Waukesha, etc.)
- Jet engines & Power Turbines
- Fans, Coolers, lubrication skids
Preferred Candidate Experience:
- Oil and Gas Industry experience 5+ years in a Journeyman position
- Dual Trade Red Seal in Heavy Duty Mechanic or Machinist
- Experience with large centrifugal compressors (Siemens, Nuovo Pignone, Solar, etc.)
- Experience with CAT & Waukesha reciprocating engine overhaul
- Overhead crane and forklift experience (asset)
- Experience balancing shafts and rotating components (asset, not required)
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe execution of daily activities in the shop and field
- Complete all paperwork and risk evaluations before starting tasks (FLHA, JSA, Hot Work Permit)
- Verify proper PPE is used and risks are communicated
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, specifications, and manuals
- Operate hand and power tools as needed
- Use precise measuring tools (Vernier’s, micrometers, bore gauges, dials)
- Inspect, disassemble, and reassemble components for overhaul or repair
- Perform rigging for equipment movement safely
- Troubleshoot equipment during bench testing
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis when required
- Apply industry best practices for repairs
- Adhere to crating and preservation procedures for asset storage
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and collaborate with team members, engineers, and stakeholders
- Work independently with minimal supervision and mentor apprentices and co-workers
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and communication devices effectively
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record (abstract required)
- Manage time effectively to keep training, expenses, and timesheets current
- Maintain equipment, workspace, and tools in a safe and organized manner
- Be willing to work overtime, including longer days, weekends, and holidays
- Support field outages and travel up to 10 days, approximately 15% of the time
