Job description

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, we are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) apprentice or Skilled Maintenance Employee to join our manufacturing team to contribute to our safety-first production operations by regularly inspecting, repairing, modifying, and maintaining equipment and machinery as required to minimize downtime, and to further advance our manufacturing facilities, operations, and reliability maintenance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Performs repairs to machinery and plant support systems with regards to mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
• Maintains correct safety standards at all times.
• Works with preventative maintenance programs and keeps proper maintenance records.
• Operates machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhauls, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
• Works with a wide array of precision tools, such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, and levels.
• Fabricates custom parts, fixtures, and guarding by means of arc welding, grinding, oxyacetylene cutting.
• Assembles and installs machinery and equipment such as extruders, dies, punches, saws, pullers, precision bearings, gearboxes, clutches, motors, shafts, sprockets, chains, conveyors, etc.
• Has alignment skills, including couplings on drives and gearboxes.
• Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.
• Occasionally performs work in other trades, welding, and other tasks.
• Participates and assists with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance systems.
• Supports continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Troubleshoots and repairs machinery and equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production requirements are met.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be registered as an Industrial Mechanic/Millwright apprentice within Alberta (Canada) or have experienced maintenance work.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
