Job summary

Canam is seeking a skilled Millwright (433A) in Mississauga to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and optimize plant facilities and equipment, including cranes and forming lines. You will drive uptime, safety and continuous improvement through proactive maintenance and root-cause analysis.

The role requires a 433A license, welding skills, and the ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. You will work in a unionized environment with a stable afternoon shift and overtime

Qualifications

• Active 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright License is required.
• Overhead crane technician experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
• Proficiency in MIG and ARC welding.
• Hands-on experience operating shop machine tools (lathe, milling machine, grinder, and standard hand/power tools).
• Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and Working at Heights/Scissor & Boom lifts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with computer systems (e.g., Maintenance Management systems /work order software, Google Workspace).
• Prior experience in a Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement environment.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with demonstrated root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and overhead/wall cranes.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns (CNC punching/shearing lines, material transport systems, cranes, band saws, welding systems, roll forming lines).
• Assemble, align, and install new machinery and components (conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, shafts).
• Diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid power issues using schematics.
• Adhere to lock-out/tag-out, safety heights standards and environmental regulations.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S lean principles.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring issues to implement long-term solutions.
• Track work orders and maintenance logs; manage spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with supervision and production on special projects and facility improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
