What We Do At Weir

We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What You’ll Do
  • Machine Installation: Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools. This includes installing and repairing mechanical components such as piping, guards, couplings, sheaves, and belt drives for rotating equipment.
  • Field Service Work: Perform installation and commissioning of rotating assemblies in the field, including bearing assemblies, grout, and alignment. Support clients by resolving mechanical issues in both shop and field environments, including pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing. Expect to spend about 25-30% of your time on mine sites, including 1-2 week shutdowns 3-4 times a year and shorter 2-3 day rebuild trips.
  • Equipment Inspection: Inspect and examine equipment upon arrival for irregularities and malfunctions. Collaborate with engineering, management, and other trades colleagues to determine appropriate repair actions.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in the preventative maintenance program on all equipment to drive continuous improvement and reliability.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with a diverse team, maintaining a positive attitude and calm demeanor even in high-pressure situations. Success means being comfortable with equipment, working well with different personalities, and contributing to a collaborative environment.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
