Job summary

Weir Minerals in Calgary, AB is seeking a Journeyman Welder to join our onsite team. You will perform pump repairs and assemblies, using MIG, TIG and stick welding to rebuild components across Hazleton, Warman and Multiflow models.

This role emphasizes safety, teamwork and hands-on fabrication in an industrial shop. A valid Alberta/Red Seal license with 4+ years welding and 1–2 years millwrighting are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman welder license (Alberta or Red Seal) with 4+ years welding experience (MIG, TIG, STICK).
  • 1–2 years millwrighting experience, ideally Journeyman Millwright or Millwright Apprentice.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork in an industrial shop.

Responsibilities

  • Millwright Support: disassembly, evaluation and repair of pumps, alignment and assembly on Hazleton, Warman, and Multiflow models.
  • Welding Operations: MIG, TIG and stick welding to repair and build-up pump parts, enabling remachining and fabrication as needed.
  • Safety First: uphold zero-harm culture in daily operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Millwright Support: Perform disassembly, evaluation, and repair of pumps, alignment and assembly tasks on pumps such as Hazleton, Warman, and Multiflow models.
  • Welding Operations: Apply MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques daily to repair and build up pump parts, ensuring quality and durability. Tasks include welding build-up on pump components to enable remachining and fabricating as needed, primarily focusing on rebuilding tasks.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
What You’ll Bring
Must-haves:
  • Journeyman Welder license (Alberta or Red Seal) with at least 4 years of welding experience in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • 1-2 years of millwrighting experience, ideally as a Journeyman Millwright or Millwright Apprentice.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork in an industrial shop environment.
Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience working specifically on pump repair and assembly.
  • Familiarity with Hazleton, Warman, and Multiflow pump models.
  • Previous mentoring or training experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technical challenges and continuous learning.
