Job summary

Prep Academy Tutors – Greater Victoria seeks an exceptional Middle School Teacher to provide individualized instruction to students in Grades 6–9, supporting them in core subjects, developing effective study habits, organization, critical thinking and confidence.

Tutoring sessions take place in students' homes and online, allowing you to build strong relationships and deliver instruction that meets each student's learning style and academic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education or a degree in a teachable subject.
• A valid BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience teaching or working with middle school students (Grades 6–9).
• A strong understanding of the BC curriculum.
• Confidence teaching one or more core subjects, including: Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, engaging, and student-centred approach to teaching.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for in-home tutoring.
• The ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to each student's needs.
• Support students with homework, skill development, enrichment, and academic recovery.
• Create personalized learning plans aligned with the BC curriculum.
