Qualifications

The following position is available for expressions of interest :

English / Humanities Teacher - Middle School (Gr 6 / 7) Full Time - 1.0 FTE 2025-26 School Year

Brockton School is seeking a Full Time Middle School ( IB Middle Years Program - MYP ) English and Humanities teacher. The teacher will work collaboratively with members of the MYP team the Grade 6-7 POD team the Humanities Department Chair and with other members of Faculty / Staff. As a member of the teaching team this teacher will report to the Divisional Director and collaborate closely with the MYP Coordinator.

The English and Humanities focus will be on English (IB Language and Literature) and / or Social Studies (IB Individuals and Societies). The successful candidate will work within the strategically designed POD program (transition from elementary to high school) and will work collaboratively with teaching partners.

Requirements :

  • BC Teacher Certification ( Teachers Regulation Branch ) or alternative as supported by the BC Teachers Regulation Branch.
  • Interest in being part of a dynamic and visionary IB school community.
  • Experience in teaching Secondary School level BC English curriculum.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Ideal characteristics :

  • Experience in teaching (or demonstrated ability to teach) IB MYP coursework
  • Experience in bringing a diversity of voices and worldviews to classroom material and learning experiences including Indigenous local and global perspectives.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues to build Unit plans
  • 3-5 years of successful teaching experience

  • Provide high-quality teaching and learning while playing a key role in the pastoral development and wellbeing of students.
  • Embrace high standards of professional conduct and professional excellence; pursue best and innovative practice; embrace lifelong learning and personal / professional growth
  • Communicate and respond appropriately and genuinely with students parents and other community members respecting diverse needs and perspectives (including ones own)
  • Actively and with a positive mindset support and work alongside colleagues in ones individual and collective work; acknowledge that we are on a shared journey and that we are better together; trust and be trustworthy
  • Approach problem-solving with flexibility and positivity

Salary Range : Brockton Faculty Salary Grid

2024-25 Example - For TQS Category 5 (Step 0) $63302 to $104047 (Step 10 ) per annum
