Job summary

Kingston Health Sciences Centre is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist in Microbiology for a temporary six-month period at Kingston General Hospital Site. The role requires registration with the Ontario College of Medical Laboratory Technologists and will involve rotating shifts.

You will perform specimen processing, testing, result reporting, and quality control, supporting pathologists and laboratory physicians.

Qualifications

• Certificate of registration from the College of Medical Laboratory Technology of Ontario as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist with endorsements specified.
• Demonstrated interest in ongoing professional development.
• Computer skills including Lab Information System and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen handling and processing.
• Performs repeat testing where required.
• Verifies, reports and releases results.
• Communicates abnormal/critical results per policy.
• Performs QC/QA procedures to meet standards.
• Manages supplies and inventories; notifies for re-orders.
• Maintains/repairs routine equipment; assists with troubleshooting.
• Provides guidance to Laboratory Assistants as needed.
