Cape Breton University’s Mi’kmaq Studies and Unama’ki College are seeking qualified L’nu sessional instructors to teach Mi’kmaw courses on campus, online, or in community for fall or winter terms. We anticipate ongoing teaching needs in Mi’kmaw Language, History, and Traditional Governance across two years.

Ideal candidates may hold a graduate degree; those without a Master’s but with significant traditional knowledge will also be considered for aligned courses.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline, or significant traditional/community knowledge aligned with the course.
  • Experience teaching in First Nations communities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area being taught.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Mi’kmaq Studies courses on campus, online, or in community settings.
  • Deliver fall and winter term courses typically run for 12 weeks.
  • Contribute to program development and student support in Mi’kmaw studies.
