Situated within the School of Arts and Social Science (SASS), Mi’kmaq Studies advances Mi’kmaw knowledge and scholarship in support of students developing academic critical thinking skills and awareness of Mi’kmaw perspectives and knowledges. Mi’kmaq Studies fosters engaged citizens who can interact respectfully with Mi’kmaw communities, contribute to self-determination, and understand the importance of upholding treaty and rights-based responsibilities. It is available as a major, double major, and concentration in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and as a major or double major in the Bachelor of Arts Community Studies (BACS).
We are seeking instructors who can teach in this area on campus, and sometimes online. Fall and winter courses typically run for 12 weeks.
For more than 30 years, Unama’ki College’s In-Community Degree Programs have been making post-secondary education more accessible to Indigenous students by offering tailored degree programming across Mi’kma’ki. Students have the opportunity to earn a degree from CBU while studying at home, close to their families and supports systems in addition to receiving specialized student support from CBU.
We seek instructors who are interested in teaching courses in-community, which are taught in a more condensed timeline (4 to 8 weeks).
