Job summary

Qalipu First Nation invites applications for a Mi’kmaw Language Coordinator to support the Mi’kmaw Language Revival project. Based in Corner Brook and surrounding communities, you will help plan classes, update resources, and assist with communications across the organization.

The role requires coordinating programs, working with departments and partners, and promoting the language policy while supporting participants and events across locations.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum 2-year diploma related to Social Sciences, Education or Arts.
  • Experience teaching or delivering programs for adults or youth, including Mi’kmaw language.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate programs and events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule Mi’kmaw language classes for the program across levels.
  • Update language resources as needed for outreach and learning.
  • Assist with internal/external communications involving Mi’kmaw language.
  • Collaborate with departments and Chief and Council to provide language support.
  • Work with external partners to provide language support per policy.
  • Develop language materials for outreach initiatives.
  • Monitor project budget, scope and schedule.
  • Support language programs through research, proposals and networking.
  • Report on programming progress and success.
  • Coordinate mentoring and scheduling for language facilitator participants.
  • Promote and advance QFN Language Policy and Mi’kmaw education.
