Job summary

Union of Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq (UNSM) invites applications for an Outreach Coordinator in the Capacity Development Department. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating community outreach and engagement activities that strengthen ties with Mi'kmaw communities and key partners.

The coordinator will gather community perspectives, promote inclusive engagement reflecting Mi'kmaw values and OCAP principles, and collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to translate engagement

Qualifications

• Experience in community engagement, outreach, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Mi’kmaw communities, culture, and protocols is an asset.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate community engagement sessions, meetings, workshops, focus groups, and outreach events.
• Develop and implement engagement activities that support project and organizational objectives.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with Mi'kmaw communities, leadership, Elders, Knowledge Holders, rights holders, partners, and stakeholders.
• Gather, document, and summarize community feedback, perspectives, and priorities to inform project planning and implementation.
• Support collaborative partnerships and ongoing dialogue between communities and the Mawkim Team.
• Ensure engagement activities are respectful, inclusive, culturally safe, and responsive to community needs.
• Maintain engagement records and prepare engagement summaries, reports, and briefing materials.
• Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of engagement activities and perform other related duties as required.
