Job summary

Laurentide Controls in Eastern Canada is seeking a Metrology Specialist to calibrate, verify and adjust a wide range of measuring instruments at client sites. You will ensure accuracy, reliability and compliance while supporting field operations.

The role requires a DEC in Electrical Engineering Technology, 10 years in metrology or industrial field service, and bilingual French/English with willingness to travel. Hybrid work with frequent client-site visits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years in metrology, instrumentation or industrial field service.

Responsibilities

Do you enjoy solving technical challenges and working directly in the field? As a Metrology Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability and compliance of measuring instruments used by our industrial clients. Your expertise will help keep their operations running safely, efficiently and at peak performance.

Instrument Calibration
  • Calibrate, verify and adjust a wide range of measuring instruments using certified reference equipment.
  • Ensure instruments meet required accuracy, reliability and compliance standards.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
  • Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Identify potential equipment issues, complete repairs and recommend proactive solutions to minimize production downtime.
Diagnostics & Repair
  • Troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues using specialized diagnostic tools.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve equipment reliability.
  • Participate in occasional after-hours support, including evenings and weekends, to support client operations and scheduled shutdowns.
Documentation
  • Prepare clear and accurate service reports to ensure complete traceability of all work performed.
  • Maintain calibration records, maintenance documentation and quality audit requirements.
Technical Support
  • Provide technical guidance to clients on calibration methods, instrument maintenance and industry best practices.
  • Conduct on-site technical audits and recommend solutions to improve equipment performance.
Compliance & Regulations
  • Ensure measuring instruments comply with metrology standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits while staying current with evolving technologies and industry standards.
Health, Safety & Environment
  • Promote a strong safety culture by following and supporting health, safety and environmental practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Training
  • Share your expertise by providing training to clients and colleagues.
  • Support the ongoing development of the technical team by serving as a resource for complex situations.
Essential Skills And Qualifications To Be Successful
  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Electrical Engineering Technology with a specialization in Instrumentation and Automation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in metrology, instrumentation or industrial field service.
  • Strong knowledge of calibration methods, measuring instruments and applicable industry standards.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using an ERP system.
  • Proficient in French with a good working knowledge of English.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in occasional after-hours support.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment requiring occasional physical effort.

WORK LOCATION: Hybrid – Frequent travel to client sites
