Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking a Technical Expert in Metrology and Industrialization to lead MB-DMI efforts, advancing 3D model-based inspection and digital manufacturing.

You will validate, approve and industrialize metrology solutions for production, plan correlation studies and ensure robust, scalable production-ready measurement systems. Strong GD&T, MSA/GR&R, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • 8–10 years in industrial metrology, quality or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of MSA/GR&R, measurement uncertainty, correlation studies and measurement-system capability.
  • Significant experience with CMMs, 3D scanning and computed tomography.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience developing, validating or industrializing new inspection or manufacturing methods.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured, data-driven approach to complex technical problems.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and influence technical stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication, technical presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate metrology principles into robust, scalable production solutions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the metrology subject-matter expert within the MB-DMI team.
  • Lead the development of advanced measurement and inspection solutions.
  • Define validation strategies for new metrology technologies, methods and applications.
  • Direct the validation, approval and industrialization of metrology solutions for production deployment.
  • Plan and interpret correlation studies, MSA/GR&R, gauge studies, measurement uncertainty analyses and system qualification activities.
  • Establish metrology performance criteria and recommend improvements to measurement systems.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Technical Expert – Metrology & Industrialization to join our Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing & Inspection (MB-DMI) team within the Quality organization.

MB-DMI is a strategic transformation initiative that integrates 3D model-based definition, digital manufacturing and automated inspection into product definition, manufacturing and quality-assurance activities. The team works with advanced technologies such as high-precision coordinate measuring machines, 3D scanning and computed tomography.

As the team’s metrology subject-matter expert, you will provide technical leadership in developing, validating, approving and industrializing advanced measurement solutions. You will help ensure that new inspection processes and technologies are robust, scalable and ready for production.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as the metrology subject-matter expert within the MB-DMI team.
  • Lead the development of advanced measurement and inspection solutions.

Preferred qualifications
  • Automated or robotic inspection-system experience.
  • Knowledge of QIF, CATIA FT&A or other PMI formats.
  • Experience with PolyWorks, ZEISS INSPECT/GOM Inspect, MBDVidia, Net-Inspect, CATIA V5 or ENOVIA V6.
  • Python scripting or automation experience.
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition or Model-Based Enterprise processes.
  • Experience preparing or approving FAIR documentation under AS9102.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, SPC, DOE and capability analysis.
  • Aerospace or highly regulated industry experience, including AS9100, NADCAP or ISO 17025.
  • Experience establishing technical standards, developing best practices or mentoring technical teams.
