Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited in Rankin Inlet, Canada, seeks a Metallurgist for a Project Fly-In Fly-Out role (MEL01658). You will report to the Senior Metallurgist and assist in maintaining plant performance across all circuits of the process plant to support safe, efficient production.

Based in a 14 days on/14 days off rotation, the role emphasizes safety culture, environmental stewardship, and collaboration with the metallurgical team and refinery to meet departmental objectives.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Metallurgical / Mineral Processing Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in mining process plant operations.
  • Strong analytical and practical judgment.
  • Good knowledge of process plant operation/maintenance is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible way.
  • Monitor sampling results and ensure sampling plan, practices, mass balance, daily production reports, and inventory are accurate.
  • Review and approve procedures; ensure procedures are followed by employees.
  • Review KPIs and communicate corrective actions; monitor results.
  • Lead process optimization initiatives and keep control plans up to date.
  • Monitor reagent consumption and perform monthly inventory.
  • Coordinate metallurgical team activities to meet departmental objectives when the production metallurgist is absent.
  • Ensure proper transfer of information across shifts.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will be part of the Process Plant Department. You will ensure the proper performance of all circuits of the process plant and play a key role in maintaining the stability of the production. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible way;
  • Monitor sampling results and ensure sampling plan, practices, mass balance, daily production reports, and inventory are accurate;
  • Review and approve the procedures' content and ensure that procedures are followed by employees;
  • Review key performance indicators (KPI's), deciding on corrective measures to be taken and communicate these to the team, as well as monitor the results;
  • Promote continuous optimization of the process by proactively identifying potential areas of improvement, leading improvement initiatives in the plant, and keeping the control plans up to date;
  • Monitor reagent consumption and perform monthly inventory;
  • Coordinate activities of the metallurgical team (including the refinery) to achieve departmental objectives sustainably when the production metallurgist is absent;
  • Ensure proper transfer of information with the cross-shift.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • University degree in Metallurgical / Mineral Processing Engineering or related discipline;
  • 2+ years of experience in mining process plant operations;
  • Sound technical and analytical skills, good practical judgment;
  • Strong ability/knowledge in process plant operation/maintenance is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee.
  • Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
