Job summary

Suncrest College seeks a Teaching & Learning Mentor to provide instructional mentorship and support for staff, ensuring consistent course delivery and blended learning models. The incumbent will mentor staff, prepare staff trainings, and collaborate across programs to enhance course development and recommendations for internal and external initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree and Professional 'A' Teaching Certificate required.
  • Minimum five years of experience teaching in a blended format.
  • Equivalency may be considered with a Bachelor’s degree and instructional design for online education.
  • Experience with equity groups in cross-cultural settings.
  • Experience instructing with technology and using LMS Brightspace.
  • Experience mentoring staff in course delivery and creation.
  • Experience in online course development and eLearning design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional mentorship to staff to ensure consistent course delivery.

The Opportunity:

The Teaching & Learning Mentor provides instructional mentorship and support to staff to ensure successful, consistent course delivery and appropriate blended learning models are implemented. This includes providing support in the areas of Brightspace, Microsoft 365, and other learning technologies. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for supporting programs in course administration, course design, course creation, and course evaluation. The position assists the Teaching and Learning team in the preparation and implementation of relevant staff training and student resources to support learning. The incumbent is also responsible for mentoring staff and liaising with other program areas to provide support in the areas of course development, course design, and course recommendations for both internal and external projects and initiatives.

Requirements:
  • The minimum education requirement for this position is a Bachelor of Education degree and a Professional ‘A’ Teaching Certificate.
  • The minimum amount of practical, related experience required to perform the duties of this position is five years’ experience teaching in a blended format.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. This would include a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution and demonstrated experience in instructional design and development for online education, and multimedia training and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people from equity groups in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing using technology.
  • Experience working with learning management system(s), particularly Brightspace, and other educational technologies is essential.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching staff in the areas of course delivery and course creation.
  • Experience with online course development and delivery using a Learning Management System.
  • Experience in the development of blueprints for Brightspace courses and in providing programming/development support.
  • Experience with eLearning theories and applying those to design, and create engaging eLearning experiences that drive retention and measurable key performance indicators
  • Ability to function independently with problem-solving skills, as well as managing multiple priorities and complex tasks.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience providing constructive feedback.
