A relief full-time opportunity exists for a Mental Health Counselling & Treatment Clinician to join the welcoming Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) team at the Lansdowne Mental Health Centre in Kamloops, B.C.
This relief position is until January 8, 2026, or the return of the incumbent.
We are seeking a self-directed candidate with past and/or current counselling experience, group facilitation experience, good working knowledge and experience in Mental Health & Substance Use, and general competency in concurrent disorders. The successful candidate will have extensive understanding and knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of clients, their families, and communities. Knowledge of Indigenous communities and resources, especially those in the Thompson area, is highly desirable.
This position supports the Kamloops Mental Health Counselling ASTAT Program and potentially other programs within Mental Health and Substance Use. It may involve work at various locations, including Lansdowne Centre (LDC).
The Counselling & Treatment Clinician operates as part of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) healthcare team and a specific MHSU multidisciplinary team. The goal is to ensure that individuals with serious acute mental health issues and/or problematic substance use have access to timely, evidence-based short-term treatment and support across the service continuum.
The clinician provides assessment, treatment, service coordination, and urgent response at an advanced practice level for complex clients, often with co-occurring disorders and significant functional impairments across various life domains.
Functions include utilizing specialized treatment modalities for individuals, groups, and families.
Shifts are day shifts, from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
Lansdowne Centre is one of Interior Health’s Mental Health Centres, offering services such as adult community support, short-term assessment and treatment, residential programs, crisis intervention, outpatient programs, addictions counselling, concurrent disorders services, group therapy, peer support, and after-hours mental health support.
