Mental Health & Addictions Rehabilitation Worker

Supporting a multidisciplinary care team, the Mental Health & Addiction Rehabilitation Worker assists clients experiencing mental health, addiction, behavioral, and developmental problems to live successfully in the community. The role involves providing life skills coaching, advice, and support services for individuals and groups, determining daily care needs based on treatment plans, facilitating employment opportunities, and supporting vocational and job skills training, supervision, and hands-on work projects.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Community Social Services or related health program (e.g., Human Services, Mental Health, Life Skills & Career Development, Practical Nursing); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Two (2) years recent, related experience.
• Recognized post-basic education related to mental illness and addiction (e.g., Counseling Skills training).
• Knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Guardianship Act), community care programs, and the local labour market.
• Current Level "C" Basic Life Saving Certificate, Food Safe certificate, and valid BC Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities:

• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to establish rapport with clients and work effectively with others.
• Prioritize and organize client demands and care needs.
• Problem analysis and resolution skills.
• Teaching life skills and promoting positive change and independence.
• Sound judgment, good observation skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to operate related equipment, including computers.
