In accordance with Island Health's strategic direction, this role prioritizes patient and staff safety, emphasizing continuous quality and safety improvements. Under the supervision of the team leader or designate, the nurse serves as a Mental Health & Addictions Nurse within a multidisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment or intensive outreach team. Services are mainly delivered in community settings, but may also occur in facilities. The nurse provides core mental health and addictions services, including assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and support, collaborating with clients, families, and community resources. The role involves developing, planning, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive clinical services and client-centered rehabilitation programs based on individual rehabilitation plans.
Recognized nursing program graduation, with at least one year of recent psychiatric nursing experience with adults with diverse mental disorders. A minimum of six months supporting mental health clients in community settings or equivalent experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as an RN or RPN. Current CPR certification.
