Job summary

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is seeking a Medical Radiation Technologist for a temporary part-time role. The MRT will deliver high-quality radiographic imaging, maintain radiation safety, and provide patient-centered care under the supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging & Echocardiography Manager.

Required are graduation from a recognized radiography program and active CMRT/CMRITO status, with strong English communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized school of Radiography.
  • Active member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work without supervision and maintain professional attitude.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold CGMH values and goals.
  • Adhere to Diagnostic Imaging policies and safety regulations.
  • Deliver efficient, patient-centered imaging services with radiation safety in mind.
  • Perform quality imaging procedures with independence and sound judgment.

The Opportunity:

TheMRT(R) is responsible for the efficient delivery of radiographic imagingprocedures. They perform high quality imaging while providing patient centeredcare and maintenance of radiation safety practices.

Mammography

  • Certificate in Breast Imaging
  • Continued mammography education as per CAR accreditation program inclusive of the CAMRT mammography courses

Bone Mineral Density

  • BMD Certificate and/or related education

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Upholdand live the values and goals as stated in the CGMH Hospital Mission Statement.
  • Complywith the Policies and Procedures of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Adhereto Occupational Health and Safety regulations and report the absence of ordefect in any equipment or protective device to the manager and take correctionaction to resolve if applicable.
  • Adhereto Infection Control responsibilities and mentor staff in appropriate use ofIPAC practices.
  • Observe all aspects ofpersonnel/patient safety protection regarding ionizing radiation.
  • Deliveran efficient, caring, co-operative and highly credible service in Imaging
  • Perform a variety oftechnical procedures that will require independent judgement, skill andingenuity to produce quality images.
  • Review and documentpatient medical history as it relates to performing exam.
  • Assess the diagnosticquality of individual studies and determine any necessary corrective measuresif repeat or additional views are required to complete the examination.
  • Performs all qualitycontrol practices to comply with equipment maintenance and HARP regulations.
  • Recognize equipmentmalfunctions and log errors or equipment concerns. Report immediately any problems with theequipment to the Senior Technologist or manager. Arrange for service asrequired.
  • Perform clerical dutiesin the absence of clerical staff or as required.
  • Perform other relatedduties as required.
  • Comply with PersonalHealth Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and all aspects within.
  • Orientate and train new hires into the DI department and modalitiesspecifics
  • Identify and implementpositive change opportunities utilizing the LEAN change model departmentally.
  • Participate in competency assessment/development
  • Attend organized education events and maintain continued educationrequirements

Hours of Work: 8-hour shifts, days, nights, and weekends. Regularly scheduled for up to 24 hours per week (48/pay).

Wage : $36.84 - $50.24 per hour plus applicable shift premiums for evenings, nights and weekends.
