Job summary

Dynacare in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Microbiology team. This permanent full-time role delivers timely, high-quality testing using the latest technology and reports to physicians to support patient care.

The incumbent will perform sample handling, QC, result interpretation, and equipment troubleshooting in a fast-paced, onsite laboratory environment. CSMLS registration is required; microbiology experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• CSMLS Registration as a practicing Medical Laboratory Technologist in good standing.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook at an intermediate level.
• Nice to have: Microbiology experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring sample identification is correct and specimen requirements are met according to established procedures.
• Ensuring quality control standards are maintained, investigating missing samples and performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Recording, interpreting and/or approving test results.
• Maintaining accuracy of appropriate documents.
• Troubleshooting of clinical assays and equipment.
• Identifying and reporting of incidents and non-conformities.

We’re looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Microbiology team in Kelowna, British Columbia. You will be responsible for delivering in a timely manner the highest level of clinical and scientific quality to everyone we serve with a variety of testing using the latest technology. Your contributions will make a difference – the results and reports you deliver will be provided to physicians and greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.

Status: Permanent Full Time

Vacancy Type: Existing

Shift: Monday to Sunday between 7.30 a.m. -7.30 p.m.; rotational shifts.

• Nice to have: experience in Microbiology

Working conditions:

• Physical and Environmental Demands
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. (pounds)
• High visual requirements
• Repetitive fine motor movements of hands
• Perform duties in stationary standing/sitting positions
• Exposure to noise, chemicals, solvents and bio-hazardous and radioactive materials
• Shift work required

Pay rate: $36.00-$43.50 per hour

The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
