Job Description

Replacement

Responsibilities
  1. Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical work in the assigned area.
  2. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, with proper training and competency assessments.
  3. Document tasks and results accurately.
  4. Recognize equipment failures, troubleshoot, and report issues.
  5. Participate in inventory control and take appropriate actions.
  6. Assist with developing and implementing protocols for laboratory equipment and methodologies.
  7. Collaborate on testing validation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of technology.
  8. Perform cutting frozen sections and operate automated staining equipment as applicable.
  9. Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  10. Monitor standards for technical efficiency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  11. Support the quality management system, including policies, processes, and procedures.
  12. Participate in quality audits and follow up on non-conformances.
  13. Engage in continuous quality improvement activities.
  14. Coordinate with staff and orient new employees.

Qualifications
  • CMLTO Registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Science or related field preferred.
  • Three years of relevant experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, principles, and instruments.
  • Two years of frozen section experience preferred.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure, especially in emergencies.
  • Strong organizational skills for prioritizing requests to ensure prompt patient care.
  • Understanding and commitment to safety programs and practices.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Alignment with WCH's vision, mission, and values.
  • Professional behavior and communication standards as per regulatory bodies and WCH.
  • Commitment to safety principles and practices to maintain a safe environment.
