Hours: 24 hours per week

Salary: $32.59 - $37.26 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable.

Shifts: All Shifts 24/7

Status: Temporary Part Time (1 year)

Position Summary

The successful candidates will perform ECG, Venipuncture on inpatients/outpatients, as well as Specimen Management duties.

Duties

• Perform ECG on inpatients and outpatients
• Perform venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients
• Manipulate and process specimens according to laboratory protocols
• Operate laboratory equipment
• Organize and arrange transport of specimens
• Practice and provide patient-centered care
• Use hospital information systems for documentation
• Participate in staff training
• Maintain safe working environment and comply with IPAC

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent
• Graduate of a post-secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program, or recognized equivalent
• OSMT or CSMLS license preferred
• Minimum one year related work experience in a laboratory setting
• Minimum one year recent experience in venipuncture, ECG, and specimen management
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment maintenance and operation
• Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams and under stressful conditions
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in a laboratory
• Computer literacy in Windows applications
