Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist for the Western Zone, Queens General Hospital. This permanent full-time hourly position involves performing analytical tests and operating computer-integrated instruments within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department.

The successful candidate will be licensed with NSRMLS, hold PAP/MLT qualifications, and be prepared to work weekends/holidays and travel if required.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program or equivalent (as determined by NSRMLS).
• Candidates must have successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Technologist Examination in all five disciplines.
• Licensure (active) with Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS).
• Personal Liability Insurance (PLI) required.
• Ability to work shiftwork (weekends and holidays as required).
• Willingness to travel when required.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests and procedures in clinical and environmental laboratories.
• Operate instruments that are computer integrated and networked; use information systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and exercise independent judgment in reporting results.
