A leading health authority is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to enhance patient care through high-quality laboratory services. The role involves performing laboratory procedures, specimen collection, and clerical tasks, ensuring safety and quality in patient care. The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics (LMPMG) is committed to enhancing patient care through high-quality laboratory services.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory procedures and related clerical duties. Responsibilities include blood and specimen collection, preparing samples for analysis, distributing and storing samples, and performing laboratory tests such as urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks and ECG testing when required.
Travel may be required for this position, and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment.
