Job summary

LifeLabs in Burnaby, Canada, is seeking detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologists for a temporary, full-time role. You will perform clinical testing, ensure accurate patient results, and uphold quality and safety standards across disciplines.

Responsibilities include operating analyzers, conducting QC, validating reagents, and using LIS for reporting. Flex shifts and collaborative teamwork are expected in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Registration through CAMLPR pathways or CSMLS certification required/preferred.
• Recent experience in the relevant laboratory discipline is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Windows-based systems and laboratory software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results per established protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct and monitor quality control procedures; investigate discrepancies.
• Validate new reagent lots and support implementation of new methods and instrumentation.
• Utilize laboratory information systems for processing specimens, test management, and reporting results.
• Participate in proficiency testing and post-software upgrade validations.
• Maintain expertise in specimen handling, critical values, rejection criteria, and test protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety policies, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene regulations.
• Support team effectiveness through training and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Position Summary

We are seeking detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologists to perform clinical testing, quality control, and analyzer maintenance to ensure accurate and timely patient results across laboratory disciplines. The successful candidate will uphold laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Status: Temporary, Full Time (greater than 12 months)
Shift: Flexible Shifts, variable between mornings, afternoons, and overnights
Number of positions: 1
Start Date: ASAP
Union: This is part of the BCGEU collective agreement.
