Job summary

LifeLabs in Surrey is seeking a Lab Technical Assistant to support specimen preparation, setup, and limited test processing, contributing to fast, accurate results that improve patient care. This temporary casual vacancy offers flexible morning, afternoon, evening shifts and Saturdays, with two positions available and a start date ASAP.

You will work under supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist, handle specimens and equipment safely, respond to inquiries, and participate in workflow

Qualifications

• High School diploma with courses in post-secondary science or medical terminology.
• Lab experience is an asset.
• Detail oriented and hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication to relate to a wide variety of people.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Commitment to safety and patient privacy.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, sort and prepare specimens for testing.
• Perform manual and automated testing under supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Respond to phone inquiries from LifeLabs employees and clients.
• Clean, maintain, and operate instruments and other equipment.
• Participate in problem solving in work organization and workflow to drive continuous improvement.
• Always ensuring test quality and personal safety.

Job description

As a Lab Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for the preparation, setup, and limited test processing of specimens in the laboratory, and help deliver better health outcomes for patients through the delivery of fast and accurate test results.

Status: Temporary Casual

Shift: Requires flexible availability for morning, afternoon, evening shifts and Saturdays.

Contract End Date: 10 November, 2027

What you will bring to the role:

• High School diploma with courses in post-secondary science or medical terminology
• Previous laboratory experience an asset
