LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Toronto, ON is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to patient care.

You will perform pipette handling, reagent preparation, quality control, and operate LIS systems. The role supports data entry, specimen handling, and both manual and automated testing, under supervision.

This position emphasizes safety, confidentiality, and teamwork in a fast-paced laboratory environment in Toronto.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and WHMIS training required.
• Laboratory experience in chemistry preferred.
• Experience with biohazardous materials and reagents.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a diverse range of lab duties with accuracy and efficiency.
• Handle specimens with proper prioritization and LifeLabs procedures.
• Data entry for specimens and triage testing as appropriate.
• Perform manual and automated testing under supervision of a medical laboratory technologist.
• Address Quality Assurance indicators and escalate as needed.
• Identify incidents and non-conformances and escalate appropriately.
• Maintain instrument/equipment maintenance at defined intervals.
• Prepare reagents and controls using defined procedures.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
• Monitor and maintain lab supplies; keep a clean, safe work environment.
• Handle biohazardous waste in accordance with EH&S procedures.
