Job summary

LifeLabs LP in Mississauga seeks a Medical Lab Assistant (Part Time Float) to support specimen handling, data entry, and testing workflows. You will unpack specimens, verify patient information, and prepare samples for analysis while maintaining strict privacy standards.

You will train new staff, perform routine equipment maintenance, and assist multiple departments to ensure accurate, timely results.

Qualifications

• Successful completion or graduation from a recognized MLA program is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; be detail oriented with focus, prioritization and multitasking.
• Data entry and computer skills.
• Committed to staying current with company practices, training, policies & procedures.
• Prior experience in laboratory operations or medical terminology is an asset.
• Ability to communicate with internal & external departments.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Unpack and sort a wide variety of incoming specimens from physicians, clinics, hospitals, and mobile LifeLabs technicians.
• Confirm accuracy of all patient information on requisitions and specimen samples; resolve issues prior to testing; perform data entry.
• Prepare, sort and separate specimens for technical analysis.
• Respond to client inquiries & work with the logistics department.
• Train and orient new team members.
• Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Conduct all work in compliance with laboratory safety and security policies and regulations.

Job description

AsMedicalLab Assistantyou will play a key role in the testing and diagnostic process for a wide range of patients. LifeLabs also provides first aid training, continuing education opportunities, and excellent opportunities for career growth and advancement.

Status: Part Time Float

Shift: Monday-Sunday as per operational requirement, operational hours 9am to 6am.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Unpack and sort a wide variety of incoming specimens received from sources including physicians, clinics, hospitals, and mobile LifeLabs technicians.

• Confirm the accuracy of all patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, resolve any problems or inaccuracies prior to testing, and perform required data entry.

• Prepare, sort & separate specimens for technical analysis.

• Respond to client inquiries & work in cooperation with the logistics department

• Train and orient new team members.

• Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.

• Conduct all work in full compliance with all laboratory safety and security policies and regulations.

What you will bring to the role:
