Job summary

LifeLabs in Toronto seeks a Medical Lab Technologist (Histology) for a temporary full-time Day Shift role. You will conduct diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing, prepare samples, and report results with focus on accuracy and patient privacy.

The position requires a college diploma or university degree in Medical Laboratory Science, CMLTO registration, and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills; familiarity with MS Office and lab analyzers is a plus.

Job description

OurMedical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. LifeLabs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.

Status: Temporary Full Time (greater than 12 months)
Shift: Day Shift (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
• Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
• Performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
• Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
• Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
• Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
