Job summary

LifeLabs in Ontario is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist for a part-time afternoon shift (2:30 PM - 10:30 PM). You will perform, analyze, and report a wide range of diagnostic tests in microbiology, while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

You will contribute to accuracy and efficiency, support QA processes, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a teaching laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
• CMLTO registered and in good standing.
• Excellent communication with diverse people.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to distinguish multiple colors.

Responsibilities

• Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
• Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
• Performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
• Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
• Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
• Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Job description

Our Medical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. LifeLabs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.

Status: Regular Part Time; between 20 and 37.5 hours per week
Shift: Afternoon Shift; 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM
