Job summary

Northern Health in Smithers, BC, is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Laboratory department. The role covers specimen collection, preparation and testing, ECG and Holter monitoring, and related clerical tasks under supervision.

The ideal candidate has Grade 12 with a recognized Lab Assistant program and at least one year of related experience, strong communication, organization, and equipment handling skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy health

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work well with others
• Physical ability to carry out duties and operate equipment

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, preparation and testing.
• Conduct ECG and Holter monitoring as required.
• Handle routine clerical tasks and equipment cleaning/maintenance.
