Job summary

Northern Health is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Laboratory department in Prince George. The role includes specimen collection, preparation and testing, plus related clerical tasks, under supervision of the Manager or designate.

The position also involves performing inpatient and/or outpatient ECG testing and Holter monitoring as required, ensuring proper test explanation, and routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent plus one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program is required.
• Experience with ECG or Holter monitoring is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, preparation and testing.
• Carry out related clerical and laboratory support functions.
• Perform inpatient and/or outpatient ECG testing and/or Holter monitor testing as required and explain test procedures.
• Conduct routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
