Job summary

HRLMP (Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program) is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to support order entry, specimen reception, and blood collection. The role requires 3+ years of order entry experience, and certification via OSMT as an MLAB.

Strong communication and data entry skills are essential, with a collaborative teamwork approach across sites. This part-time position (18.75 hours/week) involves working Monday to Friday days and may require work at any HHS site as

• Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
• OSMT Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with demonstrated order entry skills.
• Experience receiving and handling laboratory specimens.
• Proficiency in venous and capillary blood collection and other body fluids.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Data entry skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process laboratory specimens.

• Maintain accurate data entry and recordkeeping.

Job description

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into healthcare for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.

18.75 hours/week - Monday to Friday days
This position may be required to work at any HHS site where needed.

• 1. Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
• 2. OSMT Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate
• 3. Minimum (3 years) experience is required with demonstrated Order Entry Skills
• 4. Demonstrated experience in receiving and handling Laboratory Specimens
• 5. Demonstrated experience and demonstrated proficiency in venous and capillary blood collection and collection of other body fluids as necessary
• 6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• 7. Data entry skills preferred
