Job summary

Halton Healthcare's Medical Device Reprocessing Department serves the organization’s reprocessing needs for reusable equipment across clinical areas. The MDR team works in a fast-paced setting where accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

The role emphasizes adherence to CSA, PIDAC, CSAO, and Health Canada standards, with strong communication to clients to meet their reprocessing needs in a timely, efficient manner. The site in Georgetown offers rotating day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing from a recognized college or equivalent training
  • MDRAO/CSA Certification with relevant experience considered
  • Experience using reprocessing equipment such as washer disinfectors and sterilizers
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to meet physical demands and work independently when required

Job Description

The Medical Device Reprocessing Department provides service to the organization's reprocessing needs of reusable equipment/instrumentation to support patient care in all clinical areas. MDR staff work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and accuracy is imperative. Day to day activity is full of variety as the changing needs of the Operating Room and Procedures Unit will determine the bulk of the workload. Emergency Room and Out Patient Departments as well as the Code Blue Exchange Cart inject variety to the dynamic work environment.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Medical Device Reprocessing Department provides reprocessed items to patients and clients throughout the organization in a manner that adheres to guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), CSAO (Central Service Association of Ontario) and Health Canada. The MDR team is also responsible for effectively communicating with the clients in the workplace in order to ensure all their reprocessing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate from a recognized college Medical Device Reprocessing Course required; combination of in-class and apprenticeship hours required; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered:MDRAO (CSAO) or CSA Certification with minimum one-year relevant experience in Medical Device Reprocessing.
  • Demonstrated experience using reprocessing equipment. For example, washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, low temperature sterilizer
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written English
  • Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
  • Must be comfortable working alone if the situation occurs

Hours:Monday - Sundays -- Various rotating 7.5hour shifts -days & evenings (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $31.68 - $32.33 per hour
