Job summary

Gowling WLG's Ottawa office is seeking a motivated Associate Lawyer to join its dynamic Medical Defence general counsel practice group. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in medical defence, health law, privacy law, or a related field, with the ability to work independently and manage a large caseload.

Experience appearing before various levels of court, exceptional client relationship management skills, and strong analytical, communication, and drafting abilities are

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of experience in medical defence, health law, privacy law, or a related field.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage a large caseload.
• Experience appearing before various levels of court.
• Exceptional client relationship management skills; and,
• Strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Support the medical defence and health law practice with client matters.
• Manage and develop a large caseload with a focus on quality and timeliness.
• Appear before various levels of court as part of litigation matters.
• Draft legal submissions, memoranda, and correspondence to clients and courts.
