Job summary

Gowling WLG's Ottawa office is seeking Corporate Clerks for the Business Law Corporate Services group with eight to ten years of law clerk experience. The successful candidate will support a national digitization project and safeguard the integrity of corporate records across clients.

Qualifications

• Eight to ten years' legal experience as a Corporate Law Clerk/Paralegal in Ontario.
• Ability to work proactively and independently, including training junior clerks and new team members.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to redefine priorities when necessary.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Firm members, verbally and in writing, in a professional and courteous manner.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, iManage and Nuance PDF or Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete a minute book review of various entity types (corporation, not-for-profit, LLPs) in electronic format.
• Identify corporate data issues to ensure that the minute book and other corporate records are complete in the electronic database.
• Exercising discretion and judgement when reviewing and organizing documents and materials within iManage and Athennian.
• Ensuring the currency and integrity of the corporate materials saved in iManage, Closing Folders and Athennian.
